Orioles Win Series Opener Against Giants, O'Hearn Homers

O'Hearn's Blast Lifts Orioles to 5-2 Victory

Hyde Praises Team's Effort, Bullpen's Performance

The Baltimore Orioles kicked off their pivotal four-game series against the San Francisco Giants with a 5-2 victory at Oriole Park at Camden Yards on Thursday night.

Ryan O'Hearn provided the offensive fireworks for the Orioles, launching a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth inning to give his team a 2-1 lead. O'Hearn's homer was his 13th of the season, moving him into a tie for the team lead with Anthony Santander.

The Orioles bullpen turned in a solid performance, holding the Giants scoreless over the final four innings of the game. Cole Sulser, Dillon Tate, and Jorge Lopez combined to allow just one hit while striking out six batters.

Orioles manager Brandon Hyde praised his team's effort after the game, particularly the performance of the bullpen. "Our bullpen was outstanding tonight," Hyde said. "They came in and shut the door, and that was huge for us."

The Orioles improved to 62-68 with the win, while the Giants fell to 60-70. The two teams will face off again on Friday night at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.

O'Hearn's Homer Provides Key Boost

O'Hearn's home run was a much-needed boost for the Orioles, who had struggled to score runs in recent games. The Orioles had scored just two runs in their previous two games and had been held scoreless in three of their last four.

O'Hearn's homer came off Giants starter Jakob Junis, who had been solid in his previous outing against the Orioles. Junis allowed just one run on four hits in 5 2/3 innings in a 6-1 Giants victory on July 29.

O'Hearn's homer was a towering shot that landed in the left-field seats. It was his first home run since July 25 and his first off a left-handed pitcher this season.

Bullpen Shines in Relief Effort

The Orioles bullpen was lights-out in relief of starter Dean Kremer, who allowed two runs on five hits in 5 1/3 innings. Sulser, Tate, and Lopez combined to allow just one hit and two walks while striking out six batters.

Sulser pitched 1 2/3 innings and allowed only one hit while striking out two batters. Tate followed with a perfect inning, striking out two of the three batters he faced.

Lopez pitched the ninth inning and allowed one hit and one walk, but he also struck out three batters to earn his 17th save of the season.

Hyde Praises Team's Effort

Hyde was full of praise for his team after the game, particularly the performance of the bullpen.

"Our bullpen was outstanding tonight," Hyde said. "They came in and shut the door, and that was huge for us."

Hyde also praised the team's overall effort, noting that they played with great energy and focus.

"I'm really proud of the way our guys played tonight," Hyde said. "They came out with a lot of energy and they played with a lot of focus. We needed this win, and I'm glad we got it."
